Once again, this post has come as a result of bullying from Hot Pink Flush, who once again told us that we were not posting enough. Ke ke ke. Anyways, I have had an amazing time in Durban, watching way too much E! Entertainment channel (wanna know who the 2006 Style Stars are? Or how to become Lindsay Lohan? I can tell you…) and drinking chocolate milk and pouring my pasty white body into a bikini for afternoon swims. We even went to the Revolving Restaurant last night. The food was beautiful and I tried not to be too paranoid about being on a moving piece of floor 32 stories up. Overall, it has been incredibly relaxing in Durban, and also hot and sweaty. People who know me should also be made aware that I even went to the beach and wore a bikini, which is a first since I was like…seven.
All our plans for the UK are moving forward, as Kyle has detailed below. Things are falling into place, and our departure is drawing inexorably nearer. Tomorrow I go back to Joburg to finish packing up my life, throw a goodbye party (our house, 16 Jan, come and bring us a present…) and all those good sorts of things.
We have started to investigate jobs in Scotland, and I have learned one thing: Kyle is lucky. He is a geek, and he is looking for geeky jobs. Geeky jobs get posted on the ‘internet’. There are pages and pages of jobs for him in Scotland. When you do a search for ‘Edinburgh’+'Jobs’+'Media’ or TV or any of those other words, between 0 and 2 jobs come up. Nice one Jen. I will be tramping the streets, being charming in the cold (and wind, and rain, and snow…according to people who have been to Edinburgh) and handing out CV after CV. Or maybe I will cook and go to the Laundromat and Kyle can earn the money, just like in the movies. But probably not.
Basically, to summarise this post:
-Our time is fast approaching
-Durban has been relaxing
-I am glad not to have looked at the EGOLI website since the 22 December
-If you are in Johannesburg, and you know us, drop past our goodbye party on the 16 January
Ok, bye bye for now.

You see Jen, the web-webs is the geeky-geek’s networking location, and all the best jobs are had by networking.
You may have to weasel/harass/badger your way into the right circles. Send CVs, even if jobs aren’t advertised. And send many. There must be a reason your email gets spammed, and I’m guessing it’s to do with spreading your net wide.
Comment by halfhaggis January 9, 2007 @ 1:03 pmYay for a JenBug post! I missed you my little elephant, and work is not half as much fun without you. In fact, I feel like ending my life by poisoning with excessive quantities of Canteen pap right now! boo hoo!
And I am SO glad you put yourself on beach with bikini, must’ve been fabulous.
And as for jobs, once they meet your charming self and hear about how you turned the M-Connection stats on their heads, why they’ll be queuing up to snap you up my dear!
